Scotland

The Home of Golf

Golf’s roots in Scotland go back to at least 1457, the date of the earliest surviving reference to the game, and nowhere else in the world can provide such an awe-inspiring sense of walking in the footsteps of the game's greats. But it's not just the classic Open Championship venues that enthrall visitors. Golf in Scotland is the game of kings and commoners alike, with many coastal towns laying out courses on natural, seaside links land centuries ago, publicly available for all who want to play.

To this day, virtually all of the 550 golf courses (the most per capita of any country in the world) are open and welcoming to visitors. The traveling golfer can bask in a trip full of household-name courses or explore a deep well of lesser-known treasures.

A small yet mighty country, Scotland also encompasses everything from bagpipers, whisky, and ceilidh dancing to mountains, lochs, and outstanding fly fishing. Scotland is known for its wild, natural beauty, a depth of history and culture, and the friendliest people you will ever meet!

Ireland

The Emerald Isle

With the lush, green fields that give it its nickname and vast stretches of unspoiled coastline, Ireland has an abundance of world-class links to rival those of Scotland. Every corner of the island offers spectacular settings which combine with legendary, Irish hospitality to make an unforgettable trip.

While golf in Ireland was first recorded in the early 1600's, there are many other integral parts of the rich lore and traditions of the Emerald Isle such as Irish dancing, Celtic music, horse racing, Guinness, and St. Patrick. The whole island of Ireland may be small, but it certainly has made its footprint on the world. Between its natural beauty, exuberant culture, delightful people, and first-class golf, you may never want to leave!

England

Blighty

Golf began around the early 1600’s in England, where there are more golf courses than the rest of the British Isles combined. The late, great golf writer and broadcaster, Henry Longhurst wrote, "Here in Britain, in an area no bigger than New York state, we possess the golfing treasure house of the world."

England contains jewels aplenty to match those of Scotland and Ireland. From the famous Open Championship links and England’s Golf Coast to the outstanding Surrey sandbelt courses as well as a multitude of lesser known gems, England is able to make for an incredible trip to rival anywhere.

Besides a beautiful, green countryside, England is also known for its historical landmarks, traditional pubs, Wimbledon, Beatles, Shakespeare, distinguished universities, and afternoon tea. This may be one of your all-time favorite trips since there is so much to see and do in England, along with world-class golf!

Australia

Oz, the Land Down Under

Australia’s stunning beauty and diverse landscapes provide a staggering variety of golf course choices. With more than 1,800 golf courses, the leading 8 courses in Australia retain a spot in the World’s Top 100 courses. Golf came to Australia around the 1830’s and is currently Australia’s number one participant sport. The courses of Melbourne's sandbelt have been renowned for many years, but the spectacular seaside links of Tasmania and King Island are proving to be a global destination in their own right.

Besides being the largest continent country, Australia is also known for its wide-open desert spaces, natural wonders, beaches, the Great Barrier Reef, its indigenous Aborigine culture, and “The Outback.” A golf trip down under will inspire you in every way, and it needs to be on everyone’s bucket-list because the broad range of activities, the relaxed and friendly Aussie people, and the first-class golf cannot be beat!

New Zealand

The Land of the Long White Cloud

New Zealand is home to some of the most breathtaking golf courses on earth. The first recorded game of golf in New Zealand took place in 1871. Since then, golf’s popularity has massively grown and is now played by more New Zealanders than any other sport.

There are around 400 golf courses that range from world-class courses set in jaw-dropping, scenic locations to local courses where green fees are dropped into an honesty box. With its natural terrain and surreal beauty, several of New Zealand’s golf courses feature in the World’s Top 100. The backdrop to your round may include the pristine ocean, snow-covered mountains, rolling hills, or majestic cliffs.

Besides golf, this small island nation is known for rugby, sheep, its indigenous Maori culture, and as the setting for the Lord of the Rings films. There are not enough suitable words to describe the magical magnificence of New Zealand, where you will be filled with awe and wonder!
